Pink Slips
Just after we shot the bulk of Made Crooked, I created a board of index cards representing each of the film's scenes. Quite a number were covered with pink post-it notes indicating they were to be shot. After the past two weekends, we have but three pink slips remaining: Joey getting hit in the eye with a birdie, the Brokeback sequence and Joey's NYC Here We Cum video.
Peter Bauer has been busy with Urban Scout, but found the time to take me to lunch yesterday to catch up with Made Crooked. He was surprised to hear we had already shot the bank robbers sequence.
We flirted briefly with aligning a deadline for our editing with a film fest deadline. I rejected this as I want to maintain my loose and forgiving attitude toward this project. So far this has been a very valuable exercise for most if not all involved and I want to preserve that spirit. If an entertaining and provocative film emerges from our efforts, it will be a welcome bonus, though overall I am determined to avoid expectations.
I just want to continue to have fun with it.
